H.H. The Emir’s Cup 2008

Tournament Rules

1) Sanctioning
This tournament is sanction by QBF, FIQ-WTBA
(Asian Zone and FIQ-WTBA (World).

2) Eligibility
This tournament is open to:
A) All members of QBF (Qatar Bowling Federation)
B) All current members of overseas bowling clubs and individuals who are members/associates/affiliates to their respective controlling association’s congress who are members of FIQ-WTBA-PBA, every participant must be aged 16 and above

3) Entry Fees
Tournament Registration Fee:                  180 Qatari Riyal (including one squad)
Re-Entry:                                                            120 Qatari Riyal (1 squad = 4 games).
Desperado Squad Long Oil Fee:                100 Qatari Riyal (1 Game)
Desperado Squad Short Oil Fee:               100 Qatari Riyal (1 Game)

4) Register for Squads
Take Note! If a player pays and registers for a squad, that squad is counted as this player’s next squad. No squad will be cancelled, transferred or refunded once the payment has been made and his entry has been registered. The check in time is 20min prior to the official squad time. Any participant who fails to show up or is late for checking in for the scheduled squad will be disqualified for that squad and the

6) Desperado Squad
The Desperado squad will comprise of 2 games (one long oiled and one short oiled) the entry fee is 100QRS, 2 players will be chosen from each games i.e, 2 from long oil and 2 from short oil.
(These 4 players will qualify for final step 1

6) Playing Rules
All QBF and FIQ-WTBA playing rules shall apply.

7) Tournament Format:
1- The best player will be qualified from the total of squads 1 & 2 on day 1
2- The best will be qualified from the total of squads 3 & 4 on day 2
3- The best will be qualified from the total of squads 5 & 6 on day 3
4- The best will be qualified from the total of squads 7 & 8 on day 4
5- Two best players will qualify from each of the desperado squads which will consist of 1 game each
(1 long and 1 short), so a total of 4 players will qualify from the 2 desperado squads. 

 Qualification Procedure for:
1- Players from position 1-24 in will qualify for the final steps according to their total of best 8 games (4 long and 4 short).

-          Four players will be chosen from the first eight squads in the following order

2- Player on position no. 25^th will be chosen from squad 1 and 2

3- Player on position no. 26^th will be chosen from squad 3 and 4

4- Player on position no. 27^th will be chosen from squad 5 and 6

5- Player on position no. 28^th will be chosen from squads 7 and 8

6- Player on position no. 29^th and 30^th will be chosen from the first desperado squad (sort oil)

7- Player on position no. 31^st and 32^nd will be chosen from the second desperado squad (long oil)

In case if the player’s from position no. 25-28 also qualifies in the top-24, the players positioned next to them in their respected squads will qualify for the finals.

First Step Final:

1-     This stage will consist of 16 players (positions 9-24) from the Qualifications plus 4 players from the first 8 squads with an addition of 4 players from the desperado squad.

2-     These 24 players will play a total of 8 games (4 long + 4 short oiled pattern)

3-     Top 8 players will advance to final step 2.

4-     In case of a tie, the previous highest game/s between these players will be considered until the tie is broken.

Second Step Final:

1-     The Top 8 players from 1^st step final will meet with the top 8 players from the Qualifications
 (16 players in total) 

2-     These 16 players will play a total of 8 games (4 long + 4 short oiled)

3-     Top 8 players will advance to final step 3 final, and the remaining will be positioned from 9 till 16^th. 

4-     In case of a tie, the previous highest game/s between these players will be considered until the tie is broken.

Third Step Final:

·         Top 8 players will play in the following order.

Position 1 vs. Position 8
Position 2 vs. Position 7
Position 3 vs. Position 6
Position 4 vs. Position 5

This will be a match play format based on total of 2 games in which the better positioned player will choose the oil pattern for first game. Losing players will be positioned from 5 till 8^th place. In case of a tie in the total of 2 games, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.

Fourth Step Final:

The Top 4 players from final step 3 will meet each other in this stage. These four players will meet according to their positions ranking from the final step 2

Position 1 vs. Position 4
Position 2 vs. Position 3

This will be a match play format based on total of 2 games in which the better positioned player will choose the oil pattern for first game. In case of a tie in a match, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.

5^th Step Final:

The losing players form 4^th step final will meet each other in this stage. There will be a total of 2 games, after which the player with a higher total will be positioned 3^rd whereas the other player will be positioned 4^th. In case of a tie in a match, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.

6^th Step Final:

The winners from final step 4 will meet each other in this stage. There will be a total of 2 games, after which the player with a higher total will be positioned 1^st whereas the other player will be positioned 2^nd in the Tournament. In case of a tie in a match, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.
